Global wheat prices have surged to their highest level in three years due to escalating tensions in Ukraine's Black Sea region. According to Bloomberg, wheat futures in Chicago rose by as much as 2.6%, reaching a peak not seen since July 2023.

The sharp increase was driven by concerns that Russia is preparing to intensify strikes on Ukrainian infrastructure, further complicating logistics and supplies from the Black Sea area.

Ukraine and Russia together account for over a quarter of global wheat exports. Analysts predict that prices will continue to rise as long as the situation remains uncertain.
