Wright Keeps Predicting Gas Price Drops Despite Deal Delays

Energy Secretary Chris Wright continues to downplay his ability to predict gas prices while simultaneously making predictions about when they will drop. In an interview on ABC's 'This Week', Wright stated that oil futures are currently indicating a significant decrease in gas prices, and suggested Americans should 'trust the market' rather than rely on his own forecasts.

Wright's comments come just days after he acknowledged that the Trump administration's oil deal with Venezuela may take years to lower gas prices at home. Despite this, he predicted that prices would 'start to moderate' and 'move down' heading into the fall.

Wright has made similar predictions in the past, including a statement in March that there was a 'very good chance' gas prices would drop below $3 a gallon by summer. However, fuel prices have continued to hover above $4 a gallon since the start of the president's unpopular war with Iran.

The national average for a gallon of gas is currently $4.14, according to AAA, while diesel prices continue to reach record highs, reaching $5.89 a gallon as of Sunday morning.
