WTI Crude Oil Prices Soar Amid Ongoing Middle East Tensions
The West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude oil price has been volatile in recent days, but experts predict it will continue to rise due to ongoing Middle East tensions. The US-Iran conflict shows no signs of abating, with Iran's Ansar Allah, also known as the Houthis, controlling a major port in Yemen. This has disrupted Saudi Arabia's ability to export oil through the port.
The closure of the Saudi East-West pipeline, which normally handles several million barrels of oil per day, has further reduced supply. Insurance costs for shipping through the Strait of Hormuz have also increased due to the risk of Iranian missile and drone attacks. As a result, only a handful of ships are passing through the strait.
WTI crude oil prices have been impacted by these developments, dropping to $99.98 from its high of $104.5 last month. However, experts predict that prices will continue to rise, with some forecasting a price target of around $117.75. This would represent an increase of about 80% from the current level.
