WTI Crude Price Volatility Amid Heightened Middle East Tensions
WTI crude oil prices hovered around $91.75 in early Asian trading on Friday, after gaining over the previous two sessions.
The price action was stabilizing as investors reacted to reports that the United States is considering a larger military presence in the Middle East.
According to The Wall Street Journal, the Pentagon may soon deploy a third aircraft-carrier strike group and 10,000 sailors and Marines to the Persian Gulf.
US President Donald Trump had previously commented on the possibility of increased military strikes against Iran after the November midterm elections.
This heightened Middle East tension caused market participants to weigh prospects for improved crude flows from the region against further geopolitical escalation.
Analysts at ANZ Group Holdings Ltd. emphasized that the oil market is highly susceptible to fresh price spikes, with inventories at low levels following six months of drawdowns.
