WTI oil prices are hovering around the $80 level as speculation about US-Iran peace talks boosts hopes of a de-escalation in the Middle East conflict.

US President Donald Trump's comments on Monday, affirming 'very friendly negotiations' with Iran and saying there's a 'good chance something could happen', have contributed to the market's optimism.

The Strait of Hormuz is also seeing some positive developments, as Oman has proposed a voluntary fee for vessels crossing the waterway to fund navigation, environmental protection, and search and rescue services. This plan has regional backing, according to a Reuters report citing a Gulf source.

WTI oil prices remain 12% below last week's peak, but the current situation is seen as an opportunity for investors to buy in at a relatively low price.
