WTI Oil Prices Stagnate Amid Ongoing Middle East Tensions
The price of WTI Oil has been hovering near two-week lows around $89.00 as markets await developments in the Middle East.
Saudi Arabia's restart of operations at a critical pipeline transporting 4 million barrels per day to Yanbu has been welcomed by markets, while Iraq's Oil minister Basim Mohammed announced that the country has boosted its exports to 3 million barrels per day and expects to increase exports via Turkey to over 600K bpd.
The United Nations General Assembly in New York saw US President Donald Trump suggest a meeting with Iranian counterpart Masoud Pezeshkian, boosting hopes for negotiations on ending the conflict. However, Tehran offered a deal to reopen the Strait of Hormuz within seven days if the US lifted its blockade on Iranian ports, which was not accepted by the US.
US Special Envoy Steve Wickoff confirmed that negotiations are taking place on the sidelines of the UN summit, but no progress has been reported so far.
