Yemen Conflict Escalates as Houthi Allies Attack Saudi Oil Sites
Iran's Houthi allies launched attacks on Saudi oil installations in two ports on the Red Sea coast, but the US held back from launching air strikes on Iran itself for the first night in two weeks.
The conflict in Yemen has been escalating, with the Houthis joining their Iranian allies in waging war against Saudi Arabia and its Gulf neighbors. The war has disrupted energy supplies from the Gulf and is contributing to a sharp rise in global oil prices.
Iran's Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi called for 'dialogue' and said that there was no military solution to the conflict, while Iranian Oil Minister Mohsen Paknejad said that Iran had sold $11.5 billion worth of oil during the war and a further $6.5 billion during a ceasefire.
The US and its allies have been targeting Iranian shipping in the Strait of Hormuz, but the US held back from launching air strikes on Iran itself for the first night in two weeks.
