Yemen Conflict Escalates as Houthis Report Airstrikes and Iran Targets Oil Tankers

The conflict between Saudi-backed forces and Iran-backed Houthi rebels in Yemen escalated further after the Houthis reported dozens of airstrikes across four provinces. The strikes came a day after Houthi attacks on several oil facilities and utilities in Saudi Arabia wounded 73 people, according to Nasruddin Amer, the Houthi spokesman.

The Houthis stated that the Saudi-backed forces launched 32 airstrikes overnight across the provinces of Taiz, Hodeida, Jawf, and Marib. However, there were no immediate reports of damage or injuries.

In a separate incident, Iranian state media reported that Iranian forces struck several oil tankers and two U.S. ships in retaliation for U.S. strikes on five Iranian tankers on Tuesday. The U.S. Central Command disputed this claim, stating that the attempt to strike American warships was unsuccessful.
