Yemen Forces Strike Sanaa and Saada After Alleged Aramco Attack
Yemeni government forces launched strikes on Houthi targets in Sanaa and Saada, their northern stronghold, hours after the Iran-backed militia claimed an attack on an Aramco oil facility near Riyadh. Flames engulfed part of the Aramco facility south of the Saudi capital on Saturday.
The Houthis claimed responsibility for the Aramco attack, saying they had targeted the facility with ballistic missiles and drones in retaliation for Saudi strikes on Houthi-held territory in Yemen.
Government forces spokesman Col Majed Abdullah Al Nuzaili said their armed forces would continue to target Houthi capabilities, adding that 'the militia's capabilities will not be safe from the fire of our armed forces, and we will destroy them.'
The escalation comes as Saudi Arabia considers a broader offensive against the Iran-backed Houthis, with Reuters reporting that Riyadh is weighing operations on multiple fronts to push back the group and secure the Red Sea shipping route.
