Yemeni Forces Blockade Saudi Oil Tankers in Escalating Conflict
The Yemeni Armed Forces have been enforcing a blockade on Saudi oil tankers since July 20th. In this time, they have successfully targeted eight Saudi oil tankers in the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden/Arabian Sea.
According to Yahya Saree, spokesperson for the Yemeni Armed Forces, these attacks are part of a larger strategy to enforce a blockade equation against the Saudi enemy. In addition to targeting these tankers, 48 other Saudi oil tankers have been prevented from passing through the maritime routes, including 34 in the Arabian Sea and Indian Ocean.
The goal of this blockade is to disrupt Saudi Arabia's economy by limiting their access to Yemeni airspace and preventing them from transporting oil. The Yemeni Armed Forces have also carried out nine military operations targeting Yanbu, Najran, Jizan, Abha, and oil supply lines in the Eastern Province.
