Youth Deer Hunt Takes Place in Big Rapids Amid Fall Events at Local Farms
A youth deer hunt took place last weekend in Big Rapids, where over 8,500 deer were killed. The event was notable for one particular young hunter who bagged a buck and had it strapped to his trailer as he drove home with his parents.
Meanwhile, two local farms are gearing up for the fall season. Oxford Farm is hosting various events, including a Full Moon Flashlight Night, 5K on the Farm, and Haunted Corn Maze, all of which come with an admission fee ranging from $3 to $10.
Four Green Fields Farm has been operating its corn maze for 20 years and has decided not to raise its prices this year despite significant increases in input costs. The farm's owners, Kevin and Julie Courtney, say they are proud to remain the best value in the area.
Project Starburst is also giving thanks to local businesses and individuals who have shown kindness and generosity to the community. They recently posted on social media about KFC Big Rapids, which has been providing chicken, pot pies, and biscuits on a regular basis.
