YPF Files Historic RIGI Application for Argentina LNG Project
YPF has filed a membership application under Argentina's large-investment incentive regime RIGI for its integrated gas project 'Argentina LNG.' This represents the largest application ever submitted under the scheme, which offers long-term fiscal, customs and foreign-exchange stability to major investment projects.
The project is a partnership between YPF, Eni, and XRG, the international energy investment arm of ADNOC. The ownership structure was finalized several weeks before the formal RIGI membership application was filed.
On the industrial side, the project combines natural gas production in Argentina's Neuquén province with dedicated transport infrastructure, treatment facilities, liquids fractionation trains, and two floating liquefied natural gas (FLNG) units off the coast of Río Negro province. Financing for the construction phase would reportedly rely substantially on project financing raised in international markets.
YPF highlights expected export revenues over an extended period, job creation during the construction phase and sustained activity during operations, along with a volume of contracts directed at Argentine domestic suppliers.
