Zelensky Seeks Grain Export Compromise with Russia, Citing Global Food Price Concerns
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has stated that Ukraine is prepared to seek compromises with Russia on grain exports and energy production. Both countries must take steps toward a solution, according to Zelensky.
Zelensky emphasized the importance of finding common ground on these sensitive issues, which affect not only Ukraine and Russia but also other countries around the world, such as India, the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Asia, and many others. He noted that Ukraine has already made significant compromises in this regard.
The need for compromise comes as global wheat prices have risen to nearly a three-year high due to Russian and Ukrainian strikes on Black Sea infrastructure. According to Ukrinform, Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food Taras Vysotskyi stated that Ukraine exported only 20% of its potential grain volume in August.
Zelensky's comments come after the Office of the President reported that Ukraine received a message from Trump’s envoys stating Russia is “ready for talks”.
