Zelensky Warns Global Food Shortages Looming if War Continues

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky addressed the Yalta European Strategy (YES) gathering, where he emphasized that if achieving peace becomes impossible, parties can agree on an energy truce and ensure food security.

Zelensky pointed out that prolonging the war creates problems not only for Ukraine but also for Russia's economy and the global economy. He cited the situation with the food corridor in the Black Sea as an example of this challenge.

The President assured Ukrainians that they will not be left without food, despite the difficulties in exporting grain due to the ongoing conflict. Zelensky explained that lower grain prices would result from increased export costs, complicated infrastructure, and poor logistics, affecting both Ukraine and other countries.

Zelensky likened the potential impact on global food security to a 'Agricultural Hormuz', implying severe consequences for many nations facing food shortages even with sufficient financial resources. He emphasized that this issue cannot be resolved by Ukraine alone, as it poses a significant challenge to many countries.
