Zimbabwe Saves Over $800M on Wheat Imports Through Record Harvests
Zimbabwe has made significant strides in reducing its reliance on imported wheat over the past four years, thanks to record harvests and government initiatives.
The country has saved more than $800 million in import costs since 2020, largely meeting its domestic requirements through increased production.
Agriculture Minister Anxious Masuka emphasized that food security remains a top priority for the government, with efforts focused on strengthening biofuel security as well.
Experts recommend continued adoption of climate-resilient production practices to consolidate progress made in food security and reduce import dependence.
