$1.59B Bitcoin Liquidity Pool Created as Strategy Seeks Market Flexibility
Strategy, a company that offers one-stop trading for cryptocurrencies, stocks, and gold, has paused Bitcoin buying to seed a $1.59 billion liquidity pool. According to an SEC Form 8-K filing on August 24, 2026, the cash pool was created within Strategy's Digital Credit Capital Framework.
The funding for this new pool primarily came from Strategy's latest equity raise between August 17 and August 23, 2026, which generated approximately $2.01 billion in net proceeds. Of that total, $136.4 million went toward repurchasing STRC preferred stock, $300 million was directed into the company's existing USD Reserve, and the remainder seeded the new USD Cash account.
The newly established USD Cash pool is structurally separate from Strategy's existing $5.1 billion USD Reserve. Unlike the reserve, this cash pool carries broader authorization to be deployed toward Bitcoin purchases, MSTR or preferred-stock buybacks, debt repayment, dividends, or other Bitcoin treasury purposes.
