16-Year-Dormant Bitcoin Rewards Move Amid Satoshi Speculation

A batch of Bitcoin rewards mined in March 2010 has moved after being dormant for over 16 years. The transfer, valued at around $48 million, has sparked debate about whether these coins could be tied to Satoshi Nakamoto.

According to onchain data reviewed by Cointelegraph, the movement is attributed to block rewards from March 2010, when each mined block paid a 50 BTC subsidy. Whale Alert analyzed the incident and found no link between these specific mining blocks and Nakamoto.

The same incident builds on Whale Alert's earlier work that covered seven of the rewards, now expanded to all 12. The company's research cannot connect any of the 12 relevant mining blocks to Satoshi Nakamoto.
