$215B Floods Altcoin Market Amid Trump's Crypto Call
The altcoin market saw a significant influx of capital over a 72-hour period, with $215 billion entering alternative cryptocurrencies. This surge pushed the total altcoin market capitalization above the $1 trillion mark and sparked chatter about an 'altseason.' The catalyst for this movement appears to be President Donald Trump's announcement that the US government would purchase Bitcoin on a large scale.
According to CryptoQuant, approximately 56% of altcoins listed on Binance have reclaimed their 200-day moving average. This is a notable improvement from November 2025, when around 80-85% of these coins were trading below this threshold. However, the enthusiasm is tempered by the fact that the Altcoin Season Index currently sits at 49, far short of the conventional 75 threshold for declaring an altseason.
The path forward remains uncertain. Bitcoin dominance needs to decline meaningfully for altcoins to truly outperform, and regulatory follow-through on Trump's call for advancing the CLARITY Act will be crucial in determining the market's trajectory.
