25% of Canadians Now Own Digital Assets, Adoption Hits Mainstream

Share

The Ontario Securities Commission (OSC) has released a survey that reveals one in four Canadians now hold digital assets or crypto investment funds. This represents a significant increase from 10% in 2023 and 13% in 2022.

Crypto adoption has reached new heights in Canada, with nearly 39% of Canadian investors owning some form of crypto product. The survey also found that awareness continues to rise, with nearly 59% of Canadians now able to correctly identify what a crypto asset is.

Eric Richmond, Coinbase Canada Country Director, noted that digital assets have entered the financial mainstream in Canada. '1 in 4 Canadians now own crypto, and trade more with Coinbase than any other platform in the country,' he wrote on X.

The survey also found that many Canadians still misunderstand how crypto works, particularly when it comes to regulation, investor protection, insurance coverage, and so on.
