29 Unregulated Crypto Casinos Disappear with Players' Funds
The Canadian online gaming market is facing a growing threat from unregulated foreign-based casino sites that accept cryptocurrencies. According to research by CryptoGamble, at least 29 such operators have disappeared since April 2026, taking players' funds with them.
Of the 141 crypto casinos tested, only 14 included Ontario as a restricted country list, while nine in ten made no reference to it. Curaçao-licensed casinos are more likely to mention Ontario as a restriction area than those licensed under Anjouan.
The majority of operators closed their operations without providing any closure notification or honoring outstanding player account balances. In some cases, players were not even notified that the operator had ceased operations.
