$292 Million Hack Sparks Lawsuit Against LayerZero and CEO Bryan Pellegrino
KelpDAO has initiated a civil claim against LayerZero and its CEO Bryan Pellegrino following a devastating hack that resulted in losses exceeding $292 million. The dispute centers around the role of LayerZero's cross-chain infrastructure in allowing the April attack to occur.
The attackers exploited a developer account through social engineering, which compromised KelpDAO's rsETH configuration. A single verifier was used, enabling the target contract to release assets after receiving just one valid signature, ultimately leading to the theft of rsETH.
Pellegrino has disputed the claim, labeling it baseless and stating he would defend himself in Vancouver. The filing places LayerZero's cross-chain infrastructure at the forefront of a contentious debate over how the attack unfolded.
