$30M Crypto Super PAC Targets Sherrod Brown's Re-election Bid

Share

Fairshake, a cryptocurrency super PAC, has announced plans to spend $30 million in Ohio opposing former Sen. Sherrod Brown's (D) bid for re-election. Brown is running against incumbent Sen. Jon Husted (R), and the outcome could be crucial in determining partisan control of the Senate.

Brown was ousted from his seat two years ago after the crypto industry spent $40 million opposing him, helping to elect Sen. Bernie Moreno (R), a crypto enthusiast. Brown had taken a skeptical approach toward digital assets during his time on the Senate Banking Committee.

Fairshake still has a significant amount of funds at its disposal with just six weeks left until the midterms. The group reported $108 million on hand at the end of August, and this latest spending comes after a major crypto regulation bill fell short in the Senate.
