$351M Hot Wallet Incident Hits Bitget Amid Secure Cold Wallets
Bitget, a cryptocurrency exchange, has reported an incident involving unauthorized transfers from its hot wallets. The transfers took place on September 24, 2026, and totaled approximately $351.6 million. Fortunately, Bitget's cold wallets remained secure.
The exchange has a User Protection Fund that covers losses up to $464 million. As a result, all losses were covered by the fund. MistTrack.io flagged exploiter addresses still holding funds from the incident, suggesting that some of the stolen assets may not have been laundered yet.
Withdrawals on Bitget remain paused as the exchange conducts a security review. SlowMist, a blockchain security firm founded in 2018, built MistTrack, which tracks and monitors cryptocurrency transactions for compliance purposes.
