$3.8 Million Exploit Rocks NEAR Protocol's Interoperability Solution

Near Protocol's interoperability solution NEAR Intents has suffered a critical vulnerability, resulting in an estimated $3.8 million loss to hackers.

The incident occurred just after the platform had been involved in helping manage the aftermath of the Bitget security breach, raising questions about whether its involvement in that crisis may have inadvertently exposed it to increased scrutiny from malicious actors.

An internal bug in NEAR Intents' deposit and withdrawal mechanics allowed an attacker to drain funds without triggering usual security alerts, according to the platform's team.
