$387.5M Stolen from Bitget Exchange in Security Product Vulnerability Hack
A recent attack on Bitget exchange has resulted in significant losses for users. According to estimates, $387.5 million was stolen from hot and warm wallets, with a further revision of this figure to include Zcash and TRON transfers.
The incident is believed to have originated from a vulnerability in a third-party security product used by Bitget. The attackers exploited this weakness to gain access to the exchange's systems, using internal credentials to issue fraudulent withdrawal commands.
SlowMist researchers have identified suspected laundering routes through various blockchains, including CoW Protocol orders and Chainflip contracts. However, automated splitting across bridges is outpacing AML and KYT checks, making it challenging for investigators to track the stolen assets.
