$387M Bitget Hack: Crypto Exchange Suffers Massive Wallet Attack

Share

Crypto exchange Bitget suffered a massive wallet attack, losing approximately $387.5 million in assets.

The attacker manipulated transaction information and triggered Bitget's approval process to move the funds, but did not gain access to private keys controlling cryptocurrency wallets.

Bitget suspended withdrawals after detecting the transfers on September 24 and is working with security firms Mandiant and SlowMist to investigate the attack.

In related news, researchers identified a campaign using famous investor names to make malicious browser extensions appear trustworthy, posing as productivity, privacy, and digital-asset services.
