$3.8M Stolen from NEAR Intents Recovered After Ultimatum to Exploiter
NEAR Intents, a decentralized finance (DeFi) protocol, has recovered its entire $3.8 million after being stolen in a security breach on Thursday.
The protocol's general manager, Alex Shevchenko, announced that the funds were returned in full after a 48-hour ultimatum was given to the exploiter, which stated 'responsible disclosure'.
This move comes after Cointelegraph reported on Friday that NEAR Intents had identified the individual behind the security breach and gave them 48 hours to return the funds. The protocol's services were paused after detecting a bug in its Omni deposit and withdrawal infrastructure interaction with its smart contract, resulting in $3.8 million being stolen.
NEAR Intents pledged to compensate affected users in full and has stopped the investigation into the incident, urging users to explore bug bounties instead of disrupting services.
