$4.7B in Crypto Losses for Trump-Linked Products: Public Citizen Report
Public Citizen has released a report detailing the estimated losses for investors in five Trump-related crypto products. The total loss is at least $4.7 billion, with the largest portion coming from the $TRUMP meme coin, which peaked at $73.43 shortly after its launch in January 2025 and has since dropped significantly. The report estimates that investors who bought the token and remain underwater have suffered roughly $3.2 billion in largely unrealized losses.
The second-largest estimated loss is from World Liberty Financial's $WLFI governance token, with at least $1 billion in damage to investors. Trump has reportedly 15.75 billion $WLFI tokens, but such holdings are subject to restrictions that prevent selling them out straight away. To date, total income amounting to $557 million has been generated from $WLFI token sales.
Trump's latest financial statement lists at least $1.4 billion in profits from crypto-related activities in 2025, while Public Citizen estimates the damage to investors in Trump Media's digital assets treasure trove at around $450 million as of June 30, 2026. The analysis shows a stark divide between the money for Trump's crypto businesses and the losses suffered by investors.
