580M Ethereum Tokens Move Without Crashing Price
Recent data shows that approximately 580 million Ethereum tokens were moved without causing a significant price drop, sparking curiosity about the motivations behind this large-scale movement.
The spike in Ethereum's Age Consumed metric on September 30 indicates that older coins had been transferred. This measure assesses the movement of coins based on how long they remained dormant, suggesting that substantial amounts of older ETH were suddenly transferred.
However, despite the substantial increase, the actual amount of ETH reaching exchanges was relatively small, with exchange supplies increasing by only around 18,000 tokens before declining the following day. This limited impact contradicts the idea that holders rushed to cash out during the recent rally from $1,500 to $2,700.
Santiment's analysis suggests that such movements often coincide with wallet reorganizations rather than outright selling. Although it is unclear who initiated these transactions, previous instances have led to similar outcomes.
