$6.5B Cash Reserves Drop as MicroStrategy Manages Dividend Obligations
MicroStrategy's cash and USD reserves have declined to $6.538 billion after a quarterly drop of $176 million, highlighting the company's ongoing efforts to manage its finances amidst growing dividend obligations.
The company's total cash holdings are divided into two buckets: the core USD Reserve, which amounts to approximately $5.1 billion, and the more flexible USD Cash pool, valued between $1.59 billion and $1.614 billion.
MicroStrategy has adopted a unique approach to managing its finances by relying on at-the-market equity sales to replenish its dollar reserves rather than liquidating its massive Bitcoin holdings. The company's Digital Credit Capital Framework, established in June 2026, explicitly restricts the core USD Reserve for dividend and interest support.
Despite the decline, MicroStrategy's current cash position is sufficient to cover nearly four years of its $1.7 billion annual dividend and interest obligations without raising additional funds. However, the company's cash burn rate is manageable only if it continues to have access to equity capital markets.
