$67M ETH Short on Hyperliquid Reveals Institutional Leap
Fasanara Capital, a London-based quantitative asset manager, has taken a significant position on Hyperliquid, a decentralized perpetuals exchange. A $67M ETH short via an on-chain wallet labeled 'BobbyBigSize' reveals the institutional leap of Hyperliquid's infrastructure.
The position is visible through Hyperliquid's on-chain explorer and linked to Fasanara Capital by on-chain analytics providers Arkham Intelligence and Nansen. This large short can be a directional bet, but it can also serve as a hedge against spot ETH holdings or part of a market-neutral spread.
Fasanara runs systematic, multi-strategy books where relative pricing, funding rates, liquidity, and volatility relationships matter more than a clean up-or-down call on ETH. On-chain data shows an additional ~$41M ETH short held by the same entity, reinforcing coordinated institutional positioning across multiple regulated managers.
Hyperliquid has compressed the quality gap between on-chain derivatives and centralized exchange execution, attracting serious derivatives flow rather than just yield farmers chasing incentives. Institutional DeFi trading on Hyperliquid makes wallet-level positioning directly observable, creating a new kind of market signal.
