Lien Finance Hit with $542K USDC Heist via Exploited Smart Contract
Lien Finance has fallen victim to an attack that resulted in significant losses for the decentralized finance (DeFi) protocol. According to Bitget, the attacker exploited a vulnerability in Lien Finance's smart contract to steal approximately $542,000 worth of USDC.
The attack occurred when the attacker took advantage of a flaw in the bond token redemption logic, allowing them to bypass asset collateral constraints and mint new BondTokens without backing assets. These tokens were then exchanged for USDC through a pre-authorized address, ultimately transferring about $542,144.63 from the victim's address.
The incident highlights the importance of robust security measures in DeFi protocols. While the exact cause of the vulnerability is not specified, analysis suggests that it was related to the bond token redemption logic.
