$88M Hype Staking Cluster Sparks Centralization Concerns
A cluster of eight cryptocurrency addresses, believed to be controlled by a single entity, has staked $88.2 million in HYPE tokens across Hyperliquid's network.
The onchain analytics firm Onchain Lens detected this large-scale staking operation and noted that the eight addresses exhibited identical behavior: each withdrew HYPE from Bybit before staking.
This pattern suggests a coordinated strategy rather than independent actions by separate holders. In fact, these addresses also withdrew HYPE from Bybit approximately nine months ago, indicating a long-term accumulation and holding strategy.
The implications of this event are significant for the Hyperliquid ecosystem as it represents a concentration of network power in one entity's hands. This could lead to concerns about centralization and potential influence on network governance or validator selection.
