a16z-Backed Linera Shuts Down Amid Funding Woes
Linera, an a16z-backed Layer-1 blockchain project, has shut down due to funding issues. The team announced on September 19 that it would be winding down operations after failing to meet its minimum target in a community token sale.
The $848,271 raised from the LNRA community round on the Sonar platform was well short of the $1.5 million needed for the sale to close. Emergency financing efforts also failed to bridge the gap, and every contribution was refunded rather than locked into the project.
Linera's microchain-based design aimed to handle large volumes of simultaneous activity by building a scalable network of small, parallel chains called microchains. The team stated that the shutdown is due to funding issues, not any problems with its technology or team.
