A7A5 Stablecoin Collapse: Sanctions Wipe Out $100B Token

Share

The collapse of A7A5 stablecoin has sent shockwaves through the crypto market. This ruble-backed token, tied to a sanctioned Russian state bank, has lost an astonishing 96% of its value and now trades at $0.

A7A5's fate was sealed when sanctions imposed by the U.S., U.K., and E.U. cut off conversion pathways, making it impossible for users to exchange the token for other currencies or assets through compliant venues.

The A7 network, which processed nearly $120 billion in transactions to date, has been specifically built for Russia's sanctions evasion, according to Chainalysis.
