Aave Labs announced on November 6, 2026, that it had acquired the team and technology behind Avon, a developer specializing in fixed-rate and floating-rate lending systems. The acquisition includes Avon’s onchain order book, protocols, domains, and other related assets. Financial details of the transaction were not disclosed.

The move brings Avon engineers Prince Sinha and Ayush Kaul to Aave’s engineering team, while Omar el-Ashaal joins business development. Their focus will be on expanding fixed-rate lending and developing new onchain credit products. Fixed-rate loans offer borrowers predictability, but supplying them onchain requires managing liquidity, interest-rate risk, and collateral value fluctuations.

Aave describes itself as the largest onchain lending network, with over $33 billion in deposits and $13 billion in active loans. The acquisition does not guarantee an immediate launch of a fixed-rate product for all users, as it still requires security audits, governance approval, and careful contract design.

Users should watch for published product specifications, audited contracts, and clear rate and repayment terms. The acquisition signals Aave’s direction toward bringing more traditional credit-market features onchain, but the actual design and deployment will determine the predictability of these features for users.
