Aave Brings Tokenized Stocks into DeFi Lending
Aave's V4 protocol has integrated tokenized equities as collateral for borrowing USDC on Base, marking a significant development in decentralized finance (DeFi).
The integration allows users to access liquidity without selling their holdings, leveraging the value of their equity-backed assets.
This move is particularly notable given that Coinbase's seven tokenized stocks can now be used as collateral for USDC loans. The eligible non-U.S. users will have access to this feature.
However, there are concerns about liquidity and market-hour constraints that may limit the scalability of tokenized stocks in DeFi. Aave's Equities Hub limits borrowing through 65%, 79% collateral factors across seven stocks, providing a layer of protection from volatile movements.
