Aave Expands Beyond Crypto with Tokenized Securities and Abundance Assets
Aave's expansion into tokenized securities and real-world assets is redefining its value generation strategy. The protocol, which has traditionally focused on lending and borrowing digital assets, now aims to incorporate a broader range of collateral types.
Founder Stani Kladjev describes three stages of growth: crypto, securities, and 'abundance assets,' which include solar energy, batteries, GPUs, robotics, and other infrastructure tied to productive activity. This shift could potentially extend Aave's role beyond digital assets into real-world yield-generating systems.
The launch of tokenized stock collateral marks an early step in this new direction. Eligible users outside the United States can now borrow USDC against seven Coinbase-issued tokenized stocks through Aave V4's Equities Hub on Base.
