Aave Price Surges, Then Pulls Back Amid Macro Relief Rally and DeFi Rotation

Aave's price surge and subsequent pullback over the last day were driven by a combination of factors, not a protocol shock.

The initial spike was fueled by a macro-driven relief rally following de-escalation in the Middle East, which led to a rotation into decentralized finance (DeFi) assets. Aave was among the top gainers, with its price increasing by around 9 percent over 24 hours, alongside other DeFi tokens like LDO and ONDO.

The rally was further amplified by Aave's strong fundamentals, including record total value locked (TVL) of $13.5 billion, historic monthly fee revenue, and ongoing engineering progress on Aave V4 with a unified liquidity layer and multichain scaling for the GHO stablecoin.

However, as price hit the 100 dollar area, short-term traders sold into resistance, and a sizable centralized wallet dump of $6.44 million worth of AAVE on Coinbase contributed to the pullback. The broader market tone has shifted towards caution, with the CMC Fear and Greed Index sitting in 'Fear' territory at around 34.
