AAVE Rockets on Tokenized Stocks and Burn Mechanism
AAVE's price has surged more than 16% in recent days as tokenized stocks become available on the platform. This expansion of Aave's lending market and renewed discussion around AAVE's tokenomics have given the protocol a new fundamental catalyst.
The introduction of tokenized U.S. stocks, including Apple, Amazon, Alphabet, Meta, Microsoft, Nvidia, and Tesla, as collateral on Aave V4 marks a significant development for DeFi lending. Users can now deposit these stock tokens and borrow USDC against them.
A potential burn mechanism has also entered the conversation, with Aave founder Stani Kulechov stating that the protocol is considering adding AAVE burns to its existing buyback program. This could shift from simply repurchasing AAVE with protocol revenue toward permanently removing some tokens from circulation.
