Aave Seeks to Consolidate Ecosystem with Cayman Foundation
Aave Proposes Cayman Foundation to Secure Protocol IP for the DAO
The Aave protocol proposes establishing the Aave Foundation in the Cayman Islands as an ownerless foundation company to hold trademarks, domains, and code. This decision aims to resolve a structural gap in decentralized governance.
Stani Kulechov, founder of Aave, expressed support for this move, stating that it will strengthen the ecosystem by unifying everything under the $AAVE asset. The proposed entity will function under mandates strictly confined to safeguarding and granting royalty-free licenses for brand assets.
The foundation will maintain independent governance overseen by an external director and an independent supervisor, excluding Aave Labs from holding board seats or direct appointment privileges. AAVE token holders will retain full authority over operational decisions, including collateral listings, interest rate calibrations, and treasury allocations.
