Aave Surges on RWA Expansion and Institutional Adoption
Aave (AAVE) has experienced a significant price surge of 9.3% in recent days, driven by a combination of positive news, whale accumulation, and a rebound from policy-driven weakness.
The price jump appears to be linked to Aave's expansion into tokenized real-world assets (RWAs) and institutional credit markets. The protocol has announced plans for an Avalanche RWA Hub on Aave V4, allowing institutions to borrow USDT against tokenized assets. Additionally, a governance proposal introduced 'Custodied Collateral Lending' on V4, enabling institutions to stake collateral tokens to borrow stablecoins.
Aave's August report showed TVL up 13.7% to $27.4 billion, active loans up 12.9%, and significant growth in its institutional Horizon RWA market. The protocol's founder, Stani Kulechov, highlighted the expansion into tokenized RWAs and institutional adoption at the Avalanche Summit.
The market is repricing AAVE as a leading RWA and institutional DeFi credit play, with recent news providing concrete catalysts for traders. Visible whale accumulation and technical breakout setups likely amplified AAVE's move. An on-chain watcher highlighted a wallet executing nine $99k AAVE buys, doubling its holdings to about 14.39k AAVE.
The recent AAVE move also looks like a bounce from policy-driven weakness, underpinned by solid protocol performance. The US Senate's failure to advance the CLARITY Act led to a 10% AAVE drop on September 16. However, Aave's August metrics showed TVL up to $27.4B, fees of $33.9M, and strong growth in V4 deposits and RWA TVL.
