Aave Unleashes Tokenized Stocks as Collateral, Brings Equity-Backed Loans to DeFi
Aave has launched a dedicated vault on its V4 hub using several leading tokenized stocks from Coinbase as collateral.
The vault accepts tokenized shares of Apple (AAPL), Amazon (AMZN), Google (GOOG), Meta (META), Microsoft (MSFT), Nvidia (NVDA), and Tesla (TSLA) in exchange for USDC loans, which can be used for DeFi liquidity or further trading.
The Aave V4 vault has immediately attracted collateral, with a current value of $8.14M based on Coinbase tokenized valuations, although lending utilization remains relatively low at 5%.
Aave's founder, Stani Kulechov, explained the approach to balancing its lending vault: 'We measure the volatility properties of an asset, set liquidation thresholds against the bad debt buffer the market is prepared to defend, and calibrate a liquidation bonus that incentivizes to profitably clear liquidatable positions before the price can travel past the safety margin.'
