Aave V4 Adds Coinbase Tokenized Stocks as Collateral
Aave has introduced a new Base equities market on its V4 platform, allowing users to deposit seven Coinbase-issued tokenized stocks as collateral for USDC loans. The initial borrowing cap is set at $21 million.
The Equities Hub covers tokens tied to Apple, Amazon, Alphabet, Meta, Microsoft, Nvidia, and Tesla, with eligible holders able to deposit the tokens and borrow USDC against them without selling their stock exposure.
Aave's governance materials describe the Base deployment as a proposal requiring an off-chain Snapshot vote followed by an on-chain vote. Chainlink feeds price the collateral around U.S. stock hours, but loans can operate around the clock.
The risk provider, LlamaRisk, has set separate limits for each stock and their respective borrowing limit relative to their collateral value. The amount a user can borrow depends on which tokens they deposit, even when several stocks sit in the same position.
