Aave Winds Down V3 Deployments on Six Blockchains Due to Low Revenue
Aave, a major decentralized lender, is planning to wind down its V3 deployments on six blockchains due to low revenue and high support costs. The affected chains are Sonic, Scroll, zkSync, Metis, Soneium, and Aptos.
The proposal, submitted by LlamaRisk, aims to reduce the debt of $4.1 million held by Aave on these chains. To achieve this, new activity will be frozen, and nearly all interest revenue will be redirected to the treasury.
The plan involves two stages: first, existing positions will remain open, but later steps could alter interest rates, collateral thresholds, and oracle pricing. The proposal cites low protocol revenue as a major concern, with Sonic, Scroll, and zkSync generating less than $5,000 in quarterly revenue, while Metis, Soneium, and Aptos generate less than $1,000.
