Aave's Kulechov Sees Widespread Adoption as Key to DeFi Regulation
Aave founder Stani Kulechov believes decentralized finance (DeFi) may need to take an 'Uber path' to regulation, where widespread adoption forces lawmakers to address how to govern it. This comes after the Clarity Act failed to advance in a Senate vote on Wednesday.
Kulechov remains hopeful that the Clarity Act can still pass this year, but acknowledges that higher adoption could be the key to making DeFi an important enough topic for lawmakers to regulate. He sees DeFi as empowering millions of people worldwide with its technology and benefits.
Aave's next growth phase is focused on extending DeFi infrastructure beyond cryptocurrency-native assets into tokenized stocks, securities, and other real-world assets. To that end, the company has unveiled a real-world asset hub on Avalanche for institutional lending and borrowing, allowing certain tokenized assets to be used as collateral to borrow stablecoins.
