Aave's Real-World Asset Expansion Puts Token Burn Model in Focus
Aave's expansion into tokenized securities and real-world assets like GPUs has put its AAVE token burn model in focus.
The protocol, founded by Stani, is shifting from crypto-native lending to a broader collateral strategy that includes tokenized stocks and productive assets such as solar energy and batteries.
As part of this shift, Aave V4's Equities Hub on Base allows users outside the US to borrow USDC against seven Coinbase-issued tokenized stocks, including Apple, Amazon, and Tesla.
The protocol currently relies on buybacks for its primary mechanism, although these have been paused. Under the proposed Aavenomics 3.0 framework, revenue could be used to repurchase and burn AAVE tokens, but this mechanism is not yet implemented.
