ACI Worldwide Taps Ripple for New SWIFT-Compliant Route
Financial technology enterprise ACI Worldwide has partnered with Ripple to enable a new route in accordance with SWIFT's new multi-chain ledger. This integration reflects ACI's role as a payments middleware provider handling approximately 9% of global SWIFT traffic, which amounts to $155 trillion in annualized volume.
Ripple's XRP Ledger has been added to the list of potential payments rails supported by ACI, and this connection stands out due to Ripple's tech stack being already compatible with SWIFT's new messaging standard, ISO 20022. This standard has been gradually adopted by compliant banks throughout 2026.
ACI Worldwide's support for real-time schemes globally means there is a good chance that XRP-based systems will capture a significant portion of this huge volume. Ripple's relationship with SWIFT has shifted from direct competition to complementary settlement and liquidity solutions, with SWIFT's own communication emphasizing collaboration with multiple blockchains.
The On-Demand Liquidity (ODL) technology from Ripple allows for the use of XRP as a settlement currency that can be seamlessly swapped back to local fiat currencies. This provides an ultra-fast payment lane that matches the requirements of FedNow for private sector instant payment services.
