aelf Blockchain Network Offline for Seven Days After Malicious Activity
The blockchain network built by aelf has been back online after a seven-day outage caused by malicious smart-contract activity. The incident led to a controlled recovery, with public node access and several core services restored. However, exchange deposits and withdrawals are resuming gradually, and users should check each venue's schedule before moving funds.
aelf said that no network staking rewards were generated during the halt, resulting in a full week of missed rewards for users who had been staking on the platform. The TMRV DAO interface has been restored, but there are no network rewards from the halted period to claim.
The investigation into the incident has identified 155 transactions associated with malicious activity, including five unique .NET assemblies capable of interacting with host systems and node-related keys and configuration. aelf cautioned that this does not prove every payload executed or data transmitted, but rather raises risks beyond the smart contracts themselves.
