AEON Expands Crypto Payments to 50 Million Merchants Worldwide
AEON is developing a universal crypto payment system that bridges digital assets with real-world merchants. Its infrastructure connects blockchain liquidity to existing merchant payment networks, enabling seamless crypto transactions for both online and offline purchases. The platform addresses the fragmentation between different crypto assets, blockchain networks, wallets, exchanges, and local payment systems, ensuring smooth transaction routing, asset conversion, verification, and settlement.
The system relies on a unified node network that processes and verifies transactions across both on-chain and off-chain environments. Smart contracts are used to confirm transaction conditions and outcomes, while payment connections allow merchants to receive funds through systems they already use. AEON QR Pay integrates with major crypto exchanges and wallets, allowing users to make payments directly from their existing platforms without transferring funds to a separate AEON account.
Currently, AEON supports crypto payments at over 50 million merchants globally, including supermarkets, restaurants, retail stores, and online merchants. The platform is operational in countries like Vietnam, the Philippines, Nigeria, and Brazil, leveraging existing QR-code and payment networks to provide widespread coverage. Merchants benefit from reduced processing costs and improved payment completion rates, as AEON handles all crypto-related aspects of transactions.
Beyond traditional payments, AEON extends its infrastructure to AI-driven commerce. Its AI payment framework enables software agents to pay for real-world goods and digital services using crypto, with predefined permissions to control access to user funds. The platform also supports cross-chain settlement, allowing users to pay with one asset on a network like SOL while transactions are settled using another asset or network, such as BNB Chain. AEON aims to create a common settlement layer for payments initiated by both humans and AI agents, connecting crypto assets with existing financial systems.
